Ho Chi Minh City ,Vietnam - Day 19 - 21/03/2010

We went out to an upscale shopping mall in HCMC to catch a movie(Alice in Wonderland 3D). The rest of the group went to bowling alley. I did not join them and went wandering around the mall(forgot the name). The day was uneventful. In other words, nothing much happens but I'm gonna talk about coffee here.

Vietnam is the worlds second largest exporter of coffee behind Brazil, no doubt coffee lovers will flock to Vietnam to get a taste of the local coffee. The local coffee is thick, sweet and had a strong taste. The coffee is usually freshly brewed in a little metal apparatus placed over a cup; just lift it off when it has cooled enough to touch. Well, there's apparently no Starbucks  in HCMC.

During our visit, we usually frequent in Highland Coffee outlets.
Highland Coffee is an upscale chain that serves western-style as well as local-style brews. The price is slightly expensive. Outlets are easily found throughout major tourists location. However, quality is quite disappointing for some of the drinks. Definitely not the place to visit to savor the taste and authenticity of Vietnamese coffee if you're on budget.

Local coffee served in Pho 24.
