Dalat ,Vietnam - Day 24 - 26/03/2010

We left the Guesthouse early in the morning and head towards Dalat. The Coach arrived early(quite on time) in the morning and our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Throughout the morning, he filled us in on the history of Vietnam although others were catching up on sleep. Quite interesting though. We had a little stopover at a villa for breakfast( Baguette and eggs). Soon after, it was back to the road again.

The journey to Dalat is very long. Along the way, I get to see the different side of Vietnam: the rural/undeveloped areas. The rice fields, torn down and empty houses and erected buildings was a common sight. This still shows that Vietnam is still a developing country. We had various stopover at certain places throughout the journey(besides toilet breaks): Lunch at Bao Loc,visit Dambri Waterfall and a tea plantation.

We reached Dalat in the evening around 1900 hours(local time). We checked-in at Gold Night Hotel(2 stars) and followed by dinner. Muslim students dined in at a vegetarian restaurant. Food there was amazing.

After that was free at leisure. This was the perfect time to explore the European style highland city. We went shopping for souvenirs. The city at night is quite vibrant and well lit. Of course, foreign tourist are a common sight too. There are a lot of good places to dine and hangout too. After a long day, we stop by a roadside stall selling hot soy milk. Ideal drink to compliment the cold weather.

Visitors, don't forget to bring winter clothes if you're planning to travel to Dalat unless you can tolerate the cold weather.
