Malacca, Malaysia - 01/10/2011 - Day 4

Hightlights for 4th day

- Free & Easy breakfast
- Visits to Malacca heritage places
      1) AFamosa
      2) St Paul Church
      3) Stadhuys
- Due to time constraints, we skipped the Maritime Museum.

We left for Singapore in the afternoon. I must say that overall, the trip wasn't that bad although I personally felt that they should have not include in the river cruise. To conclude, I would love to visit Malacca again.

Malacca, Malaysia - 30/09/2011 - Day 3

Highlights for 3rd day:

- Whole day was occupied with industrial visit to Cubic Learning Factory in the morning and AUO Sun Power in the afternoon. Not worth the knowledge but it was an eye-opening experience.

- Jonkers Walk:
A visit to a weekend night market. If you're looking for souvenirs, this is the place you should head to. Leisure stroll are recommended. There's free performances and local delicacies that's worth trying.

Malacca, Malaysia - 29/09/2011 - Day 2

Highlights of 2nd Day

- Whole morning and afternoon was occupied by Industrial Visit(Suga). I shall skip this part but basically it was an in-depth tour about surface mounting technology. Draggy I must admit.

Night activities:

- Malacca River cruise :
A 45 minute cruise along the historic Melaka River.Quite disappointing, I must say. Apart from it lack of historic appeal, the tour was quite brief and commercialized but the night lights and waving 'hi' to random stranger makes up for it.

Tickets: Adult RM10, Child RM5. Hourly cruise 10AM-11PM daily.

-Taming Sari Revolving Tower:
A 7 minutes ( 1 for ascending, 5 at peak, 1 for descending) elevated view of Malacca. The breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of the historic city and its coastline at night is just mesmerizing. I like  this part of the trip.

Admission fees for visitors without MyKad: RM20 for adults, RM10 for children below 12 years old, and RM17 for senior citizens above 55 years old. Operates every 30 min on the hour and half-hour, 10AM-11PM daily.

- Supper at A&W.
What more could I say? After an evening of commercial touring, the best way to end it of is having supper (and alcohol) with your friends.

Johor Bahru , Malaysia - 18/08/2011

Traveled up to Johor Bahru with family for a short shopping trip for Eid ul Fitr stuffs. Naturally, even before passing through the immigraton checkpoint, we were greeted with congested traffic.

Once we managed to pass through the border, we headed to Plaza Kotaraya. Ground floor was camped with  temporary stalls selling home decorations and traditional clothes for Eid ul Fitr. This place is entirely halal(no pork or alcohol sales). There's a surau inside but we didn't check out much of the mall.Time spent here was rather short.

Here's the address:
L4-64, Aras Timbalan, Plaza Kotaraya, 80000 , Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia

Once we got what we needed , we headed to Pandan City. Parking space was nowhere near abundant albeit a weekday. We managed to find one eventually. The place was booming with activities. Literally, there's all sort of stuff you can buy - shirts, groceries, food, pirated DVDs and miscellaneous(including other fake brand products). Food lover will find this place a paradise(cheap satay, for example) if you don't mind the crowd.

The trip was decent, only dissapointment was still unsatisfied with my serving of chicken rice(small portion).

By the way, Pandan City doesn't close till early morning.

Here's a map for convenience.

But of course, my cravings for Marry Brown(local fast-food joint) still unfulfilled. Love to explore Johor Bahru on my own.

Ho Chi Minh City,Vietnam - Day 40,41 - 11,12/04/2010

Day 40:
Technically, the last day of our study trip. Spent the previous 2 days rushing to complete our due assignments. Mi Tom and Linh came in the morning to see us for the last time;exchanging gifts.

Head out to HCM City in the afternoon for the last time to do our final shopping. Basically, I got a few souvenir for myself(Vietnamese art on postcard). Farewell dinner took place at a high end restaurant( didn't check out the name).Great food there(buffet-style).

Day 41:
Shall make this brief as there's nothing interesting. We left in the morning as we had an early flight. Spent the entire bus ride to the airport pondering when will I ever get to come back here. Maybe I will, although it won't be too soon.

Ho Chi Minh City - Phan Thiet, Vietnam - Day 37 - 08/04/2010

Although I turned in quite late, I was able to wake up early in the morning. The city wasn't as lively during the day but I enjoy it that way, Had a big, hearty breakfast before exploring the remaining part of the town. The beach was lovely although I didn't go in the water. The sun was up early in the morning and it quite heated up the sands, scorching one's feet. Nothing much quite interesting as we had to leave in the afternoon.

The journey back to Guesthouse, although interesting, wasn't really new. The coach took the same route as did the previous coach for our trip to Dalat and Nha Trang.

Reached the guesthouse around evening and back to my, pondering over the remaining days in Vietnam.

Beach outside the Hotel

Stopover for lunch
